My colleague invited me for mountainbiking. He said that there were a lot of nice trails
around Hinode-town. Finding new trail routes is always attractive activity. I intuitively
replied I would.
Hinode-town is located at west part of the Tokyo metropolitan area. I usually bring my bike
by train when I bike mountainside. But, the train connections from the station nearby to
Haijima station were desperately bad and time consuming and I decided to bike for the
approach to the trail. After I biked the paved road of heavy traffic for 45km, I arrived
Hinode-town, I met with my colleague and stated trekking the mountain.
As he promised, the trail was really nice one. It was 10km-long trail from Hinode town
through Oume city which included a few passes. The good point of the trail was its high
probability of riding; I think it exceeded 90%. The ume (Japanese apricot) blossoms at the
end of trail were also nice. In the ancient Japan, ume blossom was more popular than cherry
blossom for its noble and modest flowering. After the coffee break, we decided to come
home.
I planned to get on the train for my way back. After all, I biked my whole return journey.
Mountainbiking the paved road is not efficient, but you can enjoy it under no time pressure
on an indian summer day.
