August 8, 2010
I will take part in Mt. Norikura Cycling this year again. I have participated in this hillclimb
for more than ten years and its results have been good indicators of my cycling condition.
My time of last year was 1:29:54, and whether I can manage similar time or not is my top
issue. Because the race will be held on August 29, I just began to prepare for it.
However, it is too hot to practice in the daytime in August of Japan and it is necessary to
start riding in very early morning. This morning I started riding at 5 a.m.
After my breakfast at Matsuya beefbowl stand at Takasaka, then I climbed the ascend
toward Shiroishi Pass.
Then I went down through Sadamine Pass toward Chichibu, and I climbed again toward
Kabasaka Pass through Maruyama Forestry Road.
I passed through a several peaks along Musashi Green Line road to Lake Kamakita. It was
the ending of hilly part of ride.
After I had my lunch at Japanese noodle restaurant at Kawagoe, I finally came back to my
home at 2 p.m. This way, I could keep a promise with my family that I come home by that
time. In fact, solo riding is boring because there are less findings or surprises. However, it is
very efficient and you can make full use of your time. Two weekends are still available for
preparation for Norikura. I will bike the same route this weekend again, even though it is just
boring and hot. Sure, I would like to ask somebody to come with me.
