It was my fifth weekend in Okinawa and I might not be satisfied with a mere riding any more. So, I took a dip in the sea for snorkeling on Saturday, and I reached to Ikei Island on the tip of Kaichuu Doro Road on Sunday.
沖縄での週末も5度目となり、そろそろ走るだけでは満足できなくなってきました。ということで土曜日はシュノーケリングで初めて海に入り、そして日曜は海中道路の先の伊計島まで足を延ばしました。
I made a reservation on a snorkeling tour to Aono Doukutsu Cave through Internet, and I started riding toward the assembly point near Cape Maeda before 5 am. I was a sole participant in the 7 am tour and I had one-on-one coaching about snorkeling from my instructor. The sea was very calm and there were not many snorkelers or scuba-divers. So, the transparency of the sea was excellent and the cave, which was known for the congestion in the daytime was almost empty. I saw a plenty kinds of fishes such as anemone fish, porcupine fish, moray eel or sea snake and I floated myself in the school of small fishes. Best of all, I was greatly moved with a graceful troop of bat fishes of 30 to 40 centimeters long. It was surprising that I could enjoy underwater promenade so easily like this without a heavy stuffing of scuba-diving. If my friends visit me in Okinawa, I would like to bring them to the snorkeling definitely.
シュノーケリングは7時発の青の洞窟へのツアーをネットで予約し、那覇をまだ暗い5時前にスタートし、真栄田岬近くの集合地を目指しました。7時の回の参加者は私一人で、結果としてインストラクターからマンツーマンでガイダンスを受けながらのシュノーケリングとなりました。波はおだやかでまだ人も少なく、海水の透明度は抜群です。昼間はダイバー等で大渋滞する青の洞窟もほとんど貸切状態でした。クマノミ、ハリセンボンからウツボやウミヘビまで、覚えきれないほどの種類のお魚を目の当たりにし、小魚の群れの中を漂いました。圧巻はツバメウオの群れ。30～40cmの成魚が30匹ぐらいで群れをなし、近づいても逃げることなく、優雅に漂っていました。スキューバダイビングのような重装備をすることもなく、こんなに手軽に海中散歩を楽しめることは驚きでした。友人が訪ねてきたら、ぜひお連れしたいと思います。
